One of our little helpers (Daniel Harris) launched a wiki page to get more detailed info on what you would actually like to eat during the conference itself.
Please have a look and add your wishes. Of course, it has to be something that a great deal of people would eat too.
By doing this, we can then do our very best to be able to offer the most of your wishes possible during the conference, so you like what you see and eat.
First of all a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us so far with preparing, organizing and spreading the word about DrupalCon Paris 2009, all over Europe and even internationally.
This is your event! You are the community. You are the ones who represent Drupal and we want to have you, the representatives, join us in Paris.
So we need your help to spread the word even “louder” and make the DrupalCon even more Drupalicious, for you.
Because:
Here some carrots, that will lead your way to Paris in September:
I've submitted my session Proposal for Drupalcon Paris 2009. After some consternation about the title, I went with 'Replacing your Internal Apps with Drupal'. I think that's where this hits home--we're replacing an entire backoffice of work-process and communications tools with Drupal, and we think it's great.
This is what we've been doing at Openband for the last few years. I've written a number of small, internal apps for a lot of small companies over the last few years and I would do them all in Drupal if I could do it all over again. It's too easy to get data in and out without buying some $20,000 piece of software to link sharepoint and your work-process system.
I gave Openband's presentation at Drupalcon DC 2009, and we got a lot of feedback that what we did was a lot more impressive than the title and session description gave away.
Jake Strawn of Drupal Dynamics and I are teaming up to propose a 960.gs theming overview session for DrupalCon Paris. (To be fair, he beat me to it and was gracious enough to add me as a co-presenter.)
Our session will cover the following basics of the 960 grid system:
We want to give you the opportunity to get your Early Bird ticket for as long as possible, to be able to join the DrupalCon in Paris this September.
So that is why, we decided to extend the deadline for the Early Bird ticket until July 12th.
Like this you are still able to plan, shift things around, inform youselves, watch a little... But don't hesitate for long..the day will come sooner than you think :)
See you in September!
Congratulations!
DrupalCon Paris 2009 is two and a half months away and I'm excited. My wife Marcia is coming with me, we've got our tickets, rented our flat across from Jardin Du Luxembourg, and will be there for two weeks! Vote on youtube DrupalCon for this video, and help John Albin with free admission, at 195-eu, a sweet deal.
Today is the deadline for voting your favourite "I'm coming to DrupalCon Paris" video.
At least that is what we said, but as some of you already mentioned: "How do we merge YouTube ratings with DrupalCon votes?"
Well, it is simple: We have a Grand Final! :) (Sorry for the suspense, people)
Now it means to get all your people together for the final voting between the two videos.
Another survey is up to be able to give you what you want. :)
This time it concerns food.
Please take a couple of minutes to fill this out either here or on twtpoll.
If you check the third option, you can use our forum.
Thank you!
And....closed!
We have six contestants for the "I'm coming to DrupalCon Paris video avalanche".
Thank you so much for participating and turning that camera on (at home, on the bike, in the car...)
Here a quick guideline on how to vote for the videos.
IMPORTANT INFO: you can also vote (if no youtube user) here
You have until next week, June 17th, to choose your favourite video, basically the one that should get the free ticket in the end. :)
Here a short list of the six contestants (show yourselves!):
Nearly four years ago (and 12 weeks - according to my Drupal.org account) I first came to know Drupal and the brilliant community that maintains it. Soon after, I attended my first DrupalCon "conference" in Amsterdam (October 2005) which I fondly recall though a somewhat smokey haze... At that time, DrupalCon participants didn't number more than 30 or so people in a dark room, hacking away at emerging Drupal 4.6 in all its glory!
Since those early days, the depth and breadth of the Drupal community has blossomed beyond my wildest notions. Now it's commonplace to expect at least 800 attendees to fly around the world to the bi-yearly DrupalCon conference - and even see 200 at a local meetup such as San Francisco DrupalCamp last weekend!
This September the Drupal community returns to Europe and descends on Paris! I personally haven't attended the last couple DrupalCon events in Brussels or Washington DC and I'm finding myself re-inspired to connect with the community.
The DrupalCon Team decided to extend the scholarship deadline to July 1st.
We believe that more time is required for people to fill in the profile section
Last week, hunvreus, one of our external helpers, started a poll on the DrupalCon Paris group concerning sports activities (or activities close to what seems sporty :) ).
To help get more responses, I created a twtpoll.
A summary to date is this:
It should come as no surprise that San Francisco is a great place to talk about technology. The area has fostered a ridiculous amount of innovation and there are always plenty of people interested in getting together to talk about the next cool thing. We have seen wonderful growth in the Drupal Project and its been great to see that growth translate to an increasingly vibrant local Drupal community here in San Francisco. It is a wonderful time to be doing Drupal in the Bay Area and I wanted to share a few highlights:
You can start right away to write your session proposals and apply as a speaker for DrupalCon Paris.
Simply have a look on the schedule to already get an overview of the tracks and approximate times.
Once this is clear for you, you can submit a proposal (you need to be registered) and choose your track for which you would like to hold a presentation, a BoF or a panel.
There are so many creative ways to attend the DrupalCon Paris and see the wonders within the Drupal Community live.
Josh Waihi, an active Drupalist and winner of 2009 of the New Zealand “geek” competition IT Rockstar rocked the stage to be with us this September.
Thank you for being an early bird and having bought your ticket to DrupalCon Paris 2009. (and thank you to those who will do so very soon) :)
One lucky person has the chance to win a full refund on his/her purchased DrupalCon Paris ticket.
All you have to do is simply tell us why people should go to DrupalCon Paris this September.
The Drupalcon Scholarship Fund is now taking your orders. We have 60 scholarships in stock for students, developers and contributors who want to attend the Drupalcon Paris 2009 but need financial helping out.
Ready, steady, GO!
We just launched the "I'm coming to DrupalCon Paris video avalanche" contest on our YouTube channel
What is it about?
Take this as a chance to express yourselves! We want to know what you think, expect and why you are going to the DrupalCon Paris 2009, or rather, why you think others should join.
What do you need to respect?
Registration for DrupalCon Paris opened this weekend, and already several sponsors have claimed coveted top sponsorship spots for the September 1-5, 2009. Whether or not Sun will sponsor for the 5th time in a row is something I'll be checking into over the coming weeks.
Although the agenda and session schedule for DrupalCon Paris has not yet been posted, there is already some interesting content planned for the event, including full day immersion style training in Commercial Training tracks. Whether or not Sun sponsors this DrupalCon, I plan to make this one my 5th in a row.
In other DrupalCon news, San Francisco is making a bid for North America's DrupalCon in March 2010.
