Arriving by plane to Budapest

For cheap flight searches we suggest you use http://www.skyscanner.net/, http://www.farecast.com/ or http://kayak.com/. The later two does not include European budget flights but provide more options to filter flights. For attendees coming from out of Europe, the option of coming to a major flight hub somewhere in Europe and transferring to a budget flight there might get you considerably cheaper flight prices. From the airport or Budapest city center to Szeged by train

There is direct train connection going from Budapest Airport Terminal 1 to Szeged, and you can buy train tickets inside the terminal building. Those arriving to Terminal 2 should take the bus line numbered 200 (which requires a ticket on its own), and get off at Terminal 1 to take the train. Trains are available hourly from 6:12am till 9:12pm (at the airport), originally departing from the Budapest Western Railway Station (22 minutes earlier).

We recommend the InterCity lines for a comforting journey. For this you must purchase a railway ticket and a seat reservation ticket specific to your train, which costs about 3500 Ft.- (~€14 and ~$23). If you stay in Budapest before the conference, we recommend you to take this train at the Budapest Western Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar in Hungarian).

From the airport or Budapest city center by the Drupalcon Shuttle Bus

We also plan on providing a direct Drupalcon Shuttle Bus service from Budapest, for which we will gather interested parties through the conference registration. This would be similar price as the train, but more comfortable and without stops through the journey. The numbers and schedules of the buses will depend on the interest.

By car from around Hungary

Visitors from neighboring countries will probably find it easier to come by car, especially if they can gather more people to come together or even organize their own minibus. We will try to provide some help in organizing car-sharing through Drupalcon user profiles.

Szeged is directly connected by the M5 motorway to Budapest, on which the driving time can be 1.5 hours, respecting the speed limits. You need to buy highway tickets though, see http://www.motorway.hu/engine.aspx?page=payment for more information. We would suggest this motorway, also known as E75 (spanning multiple EU countries) for people coming from the North and North-West. E68 (road 43) connects Szeged with Arad and Timisoara for people coming from South-East, and road 47 comes in from North-East.
