Meaning
The Drupal water droplet waters the fertile ground of European web development communities making flowers bloom that symbolize successful businesses that rely on Drupal.
Design
The design is inspired by the floral patters of traditional Hungarian embroidery, porcelain and furniture design. Its style is in-line with the Drupal identity and colors.
Visual hierarchy
The word Drupalcon and the Drupal droplet logo are the heroes of the logo. Szeged 2008 and the decoration add a special flavor to the event.
Usability
The logo is made out of 4 direct (spot) colors and can be reproduced easily on a variety of different elements.
DRUPALCON logo description (from klash our creative genius).
Idea:
To reproduce correctly the atmosphere of Drupalcon, existent in the city with rich traditions and historical past, we decided to create the modern coat of arms for this event.
Elements:
In the center of composition hero of the event - Druplicon.
Behind him - sunrise lights, like the birth of new ideas.
The branches (mantle) symbolise the number and variety of possibilities with Drupal, which bring in turn the result — pepper. Peppers are also directly associated with the location.
Overall the mantle looks like big heart around the title as we all love Drupal.
Impression:
Modern, fresh, cognate, informative.
Technology:
This sign created in Drupal corporate colors.
Freely scaled. Can be printed on any surfaces.
This is a left algined variant on our other entry.

My submit includes a little historic touch, the Holy Crown of Hungary. The crown is used in the national Coat of arms and was featured on the forint currency.
The Holy Crown has had a lively history, having been stolen, hidden, lost, recovered and taken abroad many times. During the Second World War it was transported to Western Europe and eventually was given to the American Army for safekeeping from the Soviet Union. It was held at Fort Knox, until it was returned by Jimmy Carter on 6 January 1978. the crown made its return to the national coat of arms in 1990. On January 1, 2000, the Holy Crown of Hungary was moved to the Hungarian Parliament Building from the Hungarian National Museum.
Also incorporated is Drupalicon, the Holy Scepter, the Hungarian national colors (red, green and white) and a reef, which comes from the symbol of the scientific university of szeged.
If you are interested in creating a derivative of my work, you can download the source PSD on my website. Excuse the messy PSD, I prefer to bugger around in Photoshop. If chosen the final will be compiled in Illustrator with both a large scale (added detail to crown/scepter) and limited detail copy for smaller use (example).

SideNote: My family's (Holman) ancestry is Hungarian and I'm excited to have the opportunity to attend the conference and hopefully connect with some roots. Cheers :)
Druplicon with hat and mustache and the Dóm in the background.
This is a very simple logo comprising four colours: black, red, white and green, representing the national colours of Hungary, whereas the symbol of the paprika is representing Szeged.
Ez egy nagyon egyszerű logo, 4 színt használ: fekete, piros, fehér, zöld. Magyarország nemzeti színeit jeleníti meg, a paprika szimbólum pedig Szegedre utal.
Solid drop.
Szeged now in helvetica.
The design is inspired by the Dóm, which is a symbol of Szeged. Around the eyes, the three colours of Hungary are used. This way, the logo presents Hungary, Szeged and of course Drupal with the druplicon.
DrupalCon in the City of Sunshine
A work in progress, but the concept should be clear :-)
This is what a Hungarian paprika looks like, they're a lot bulkier than the peppers most people have used so far.
And of course the colors correspond with the colors in the Hungarian flag.
Simple but elegant.
Works well with white/dark backgrounds for printing.
Very European if you ask me.
This logo design is based on one of Szeged's coat of arms/symbol.
Simple vectorized logo. I like chili
Based on the label design in most of Szeged's products with Paprika.
The amazing cube of Ernő Rubik - Budapest 1944.
Inspired on the figure outside the Szegedi Biológiai Kutatóintézete.
I know this is not a valid logo, just for fun.
Just taste its power!
it represents the city of the sun
in the eight its famous paprika are shown
A simple logo featuring the main colors of Szeged's coat-of-arms and emphasising the Drupaltown concept.
We love Drupal, and paprika.
Szeged historic Water tower.
Someone is inside...watching you
inspired by the paprika and hungary colors
Szeged Water Tower, second version.
The italicized "2008" shows forward movement & constant improvement. The round edges of the bubble background shows a softness --a friendliness of the Drupalcon community.
The actually text, well, it just looks cool, I think. :-)
H-ra hasonlító homokóra a végtelen 8-assal ;-)
