Transylvania Round Trip – 5 days (31 August 2008 – 4 September 2008)

Program

Day 1 (31.08.): Szeged – Oradea – Cluj Napoca – Turda

• 07:00: Departure in the early hours from Szeged, crossing the border at Nagylak / Nadlac.
• 11:00: Sightseeing tour in Oradea (Nagybánya) – Main Square, Cathedral
• Short break in Huedin (Bánffyhunyad)
• 16:00: Short sightseeing in Cluj Napoca (Kolozsvár) – Farkas Street, Házsongrád Cemetery, Main Square
• 19:30: Arrival in Turda (Torda). Accommodation and dinner in Turda in a convenient 3* Pension

Day 2 (01.09.): Turda – Tárgu Mures – Sovata

• 08:00: After the breakfast the group starts a tour to the Mountain Cleft of Turda
• 11:00: Short sightseeing in Tárgu Mures (Marosvásárhely)
• 14:00: Arrival in Sovata. Accomodation in a 2* Thermal-Hotel near to the Bear Lake, a european wide known salty lake-system with thermalwater. In the afternoon free time in the thermal bath and at the lakeside beach. Dinner in the Hotel.

Day 3 (02.09.): Sovata – Prajd – Lacu Rosu – Bicaz – Ghimes Fáget – Sumuleu Ciuc

• 08:00: Morning walk in the salt mine of Prajd then at the lakeside of Lacu Rosu (Gyilkos tó), so to say The Killer Lake (where more than 150 years ago a rock slid down the mountain and created a unique natural phenomena).
• 16:00: Arrival in (Ghimes Fáget), one of the final and eastest Hungarian settlements in Transylvania. Dinner with “csángó” music and folk dance.
• 20:30: Accomodation in a 2* Hotel near Sumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomlyó).

Day 4 (03.09.): Sumuleu Ciuc – Odorheiu Secuiesc – Sighisoara - Coltesti

• 08:00: Short tour to the field and the Church of Sumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomyló) which is visited by thousands of people each year within the frames of the World Meeting of Hungarians.
• 11:00: Sightseeing in Odorheiu Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely) – Main Square, Town Hall, etc.
• 16:00: Walk through the centre of Sighisoara (Segesvár), the old town is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
• 20.00: Accommodation and Dinner in a 3* Pension in Coltesti (Torockószentgyörgy)

Day 5 (09.04.): Coltesti – Alba Iulia – Deva - Arad – Szeged

• 07:00: After our breakfast we start the day with a visit to Alba Iulia (Gyulafehérvár) – Castle, Bishop’s Palace, etc.
• On our way back to Hungary we stop for a short rest at the Castle of Hunedoara (Vajdahunyad) and at the Castle of Deva (Déva).
• 16:00: Sightseeing tour in Arad – Main Square, Memorial of the Hunagrian Martyrs 1849
• 21:30: Arrival in Budapest (with a short rest near to Szeged)
