Article for conference booklet:
Drupal is often compared with other CMS products, but the true power of the platform is in it's flexibility and extensibility. Drupal, as a set of APIs, is a viable choice as a framework for developing powerful web apps. This session will demonstrate the use of Drupal APIs and Modules for web application development by means of a couple of case studies. Along the way we'll touch on comparisons with other frameworks from a developer perspective, and requirements for enterprise from a business perspective.
Bios for conference booklet:
Darren Mothersele is a freelance web developer with a background in both the music industry and computer science research. He first discovered Drupal in 2003 when looking for a CMS to power a community website. In 2005 he was a founding member of a digital music distribution company and selected C#.NET as a platform to build on. After 18 months he was happy to return to PHP/MySQL and experimented with various PHP development frameworks. He settled on Drupal as his CMS and development platform of choice. Since then he has been involved in lots of Drupal website builds, and blogs about Drupal at darrenmothersele.com.

Would it help if I posted more details of the specific use cases I was planning on presenting?
Yes
Specific use-cases would be good.
I was on a similar panel in Sunnyvale and did a talk in Barcelona on the topic. It is generally well-attended, and I think you could round up some co-presenters with a little help.
Possible co-presenters make
