Scott currently works at Sun Microsystems' as Chief Architect for Western U.S. Sales & Service. Scott advocates for open source and sustainable business. He spends a lot of his time lately with startups to build relationships with Sun and study their architectural patterns for infrastructure. In addition to his time at Sun, Scott's career has spanned several leadership positions with companies helping to shape business on the Internet including 4charity.com, Live365.com, Cybersource, and NeXT Computer. He is involved in several open source communities and sustainable business groups, and speaks at public events on open source, and sustainability. Scott joined the board of directors for Architecture For Humanity in December 2007, and is an active volunteer in San Francisco, where he lives with his partner, honeybees and cattle dog.
