Are American Express cards commonly accepted in Hungary?

visa and mastercard are definitely accepted everywhere. American express I've seen around, but I'm not a 100% how widely accepted.

It's definitely common but it's nearly 10 000 shops of 30 000 where it's not accepted.
See this chart, it shows the different card brands acceptance change over the years:

In the last year amex acceptance has increased, because the leading Hungarian bank (OTP Bank) accepts this.

Thank you. This is quite helpful. Looks like I'll be able to use my American Express mostly and only need to use Visa on occasion.
